Clinical Characteristics of Behçet Disease in an Egyptian Cohort

Abstract Aim of the work To study clinical characteristics Behcet’s disease (BD) in Egyptian patients. Patients and methods 150 BD patients were recruited from Rheumatology Internal medicine Department, Ain Shams University Hospitals. Demographic data collected. Disease activity was assessed using Behcet Current Activity Form (BDCAF). Results included this study. Their ages 34.05 ± 9.28 years (14 – 66 years) with duration range (1–20 years). There 116 males (77.3%)and 34 females (22.7%), male to female ratio 3.4:1. The BDCAF 4.44 1.97 (2–10). frequency manifestations oral ulcers 86.7%, followed by genital 82.0%, ocular involvement 68.7%, vascular affection 58.7%, articular 32.7%, pathergy test positive 28.0%, skin 26.0% (pustular lesions, folicilitis,erythema nodosum pyoderma gangrenosum), neurological 25.3% form (CNS infarction 12.7%,vasculitis 6.7%, Cerebral sinus thrombosis 4.0% Seizures 2.0%) gastrointestinal 7.3% (nausea, vomiting abdominal pain).
